Styling Wigs to Look Natural
A Remy human hair wig is the perfect foundation for any hairstyle. Remy hair is the highest quality wig hair, and it behaves just like biological hair. You’re free to try any style you like, but we recommend keeping basic care principles in mind. These tips will help your wig look natural and last for years.
If you’re wearing a wig for the first time, your hairstylist can help you create a natural hairline and a flattering cut. Next, we always suggest doing hair care and styling with the wig off your head. This will prevent damage and keep your wig in optimal condition.
Start by detangling, washing, and conditioning your wig. We recommend using lukewarm water and finger-combing as you go. Gently squeeze extra water out of the hair with a cotton t-shirt or microfiber towel to avoid causing frizz.
Always apply heat protectant before heat styling your wig. Whether you’re drying, straightening, or curling, this helps seal in moisture and protect the hair. We like to dry our wigs on mannequin heads, as this helps the hair hang naturally. Next, it’s styling time!
3 Wig Style Ideas
1. Wild & Wavy Hair
Playing with volume is such a fun way to mix up your hairstyle. Add some texture and drama with bunches of waves!
To achieve this look, we use our favorite straightener to create loose, irregular curls all over the head. Lastly, we spritz in some dry shampoo and give the waves a good shake. The more volume, the better!
2. High Ponytail
The best part about having the extra length and volume of a wig might be all the new styles you can achieve. You don’t have to wear your locks down every day for your wig to be cute!
To rock a cute ponytail without damaging your wig, detangle thoroughly. Use gel or styling cream to smooth the top into a ponytail, but don’t tie it too tightly! Pull out some face-framing baby hairs to finish the look.
3. The Bubble Braid
Whether you’re following the trends or honoring your favorite Powerpuff Girl, bubble braids are here to stay. This cute hairstyle is the perfect way to get creative with your wig, and best of all, it’s super simple. Simply create a ponytail and add more hair ties down the length of the ponytail to create sections. Then pull out bits of hair to create some poofy volume and voila, you’ve got a bubble braid!
