The hot, sultry, summer months can be great for any type of hair, long or short. A great summer look that will work on most any hairstyle is the ever-popular ponytail, as it never goes out of style, does it? Never, ever!!! There are so many ways to wear a ponytail, you can stick with the old classics or take the basic ponytail and build on it.

Nape Knot:

Merely take last season’s topknot and move it down about six inches to the nape of your neck. This is the hottest way to wear this lasting trend with effortless elegance. Smooth bangs to one side or pin them back to keep them off your forehead. Part your hair on the side or in the middle and smooth your remaining hair back. If you need some extra volume, consider adding in a clip in hairpiece to make your bun thick and voluminous. Secure with pins and lightly spray. Another great look is the loose and messy bun. The key to achieving this effortless stlye is to skip the ponytail when forming your bun. Sweep your hair up and back with your hands, as if you’re going to put it in a ponytail and twist it up into a bun on its own. Grab some bobby pins, and pin it down, adjusting as you go to just the right amount of loose, beautiful style.

Braided Goddess:

length extensions Braids are still in. And, just like the ponytail, they never went anywhere; they just like to hide sometimes, perhaps underneath the ball cap! Not to worry, with or without volume extensions, choose a modern look with fishtail braids, or one long braid wrapped around your head! Choose loose, effortless, and chic over tight French braids. Or…. if you’d like, finish your braid into a loose bun at the top of your head or nape of your neck for a twist. If you are daring and want to throw everyone off their game, go asymmetrical and twist a braid around your head, shape it to frame your face…imperfection is the key to this updated look.

Up, Up, And Away In My Beautiful Messy Braid:

If you want to turn heads, the MESSY braid is the way to do it this summer! This is how: Take sections of your hair and twisted and turn and pin back in a messy style. Imperfection is the key to this fun and flirty look. You can’t go wrong, and you can wear it ANYwhere! Tie a bright scarf around your head like a headband and don your cutest sunglasses, and you will be turning heads from the ballpark to the dance floor!

Waterfalls All Around:

Don’t go chasing waterfall’s – no, wait- DO! This is a romantic braiding method that is gorgeous because it looks like your hair is running through its hair accessory! This is a creative braid that can be challenging at best, but you’ll be a pro with a little practice. There is a great YouTube video if you look it up. Give it a watch!
