Match the human hair topper to the length of your own hair. If your hair is ear length or shorter, choose a 5-6 inch topper. If your hair is longer than ear length, choose a 12-16 inch Light Volume human hair topper or a 12-18 inch Full Volume human hair topper, and have it cut down to your own length. Every longer human hair topper is meant to be cut to the client, which is what makes it disappear into your own hair. A stylist does this at your appointment, or you can have your own stylist do it.

Yes to bangs, and this is one of the questions we are asked most. Every one of our human hair toppers can be cut with bangs, so any topper can become your bang piece. What we do not recommend is a separate bang piece that sits only on the front of your head, because it does not blend properly with the rest of your hair. The approach that works is to choose a human hair topper matched to your own hair length, then have bangs cut into it so the whole thing blends as one. Like everything else we make, it is customized to you.

It depends on the shade and on which piece it is. There are four cases across the range.

• Solid, no root. One colour from root to end: Adele, Adrianna, Bella, Blanch, Faith, Grace, Hope, Marilyn and Midnight.
• A 1 inch darker root on our standard toppers and wigs: Amber, Audrey, Darci, Ella, Elsie, Giselle, Katniss, Mila, Nicole, Priscilla, Sophia, Summer and Victoria.
• A 2 inch darker root on every Luxury Length extension that is not a solid shade. This is deliberate. Two inches sits between the 1 inch root on our standard shades and the 3 inch root on our Balayage shades, so one extension blends with either version of that colour.
• A 3 inch darker root on every Balayage shade.

A darker root matters because it mimics your own regrowth, so the part reads as hair growing out of your scalp rather than a piece sitting on top of it. The deeper the root, the longer you can go between colour appointments before your own regrowth stops matching.

If you love a solid shade but want a root, a stylist can hand color one onto any piece in the range, and can add lowlights or a toner at the same time. Because it is 100% human hair, a solid shade is a starting point rather than a limit.

The colour is identical. The only difference is the length of the root: 3 inches instead of 1 inch. Amber and Amber Balayage are the same warm golden blonde, and the Balayage simply carries a 3 inch darker brown root. Elsie and Elsie Balayage are the same ash blonde. Nothing else about the colour changes.

Seven shades have a Balayage version: Amber, Audrey, Ella, Elsie, Giselle, Mila and Victoria. Choose the Balayage if you stretch your colour appointments, already wear a deep rooted colour, or simply want more shadow through the part.

Balayage is not made in our 5-6 inch toppers or our 6-8 inch wigs. On hair that short a 3 inch root would take up most of the piece and would read as grown out roots rather than as a balayage.

A human hair topper on its own will not. Toppers are built to add volume and coverage on top, not length, and if the topper is longer than your own hair you will see a demarcation line where your own hair ends underneath it. There are two ways to go longer. Pair a 12-18 inch Full Volume human hair topper with a Luxury Length human hair extension and have the two cut to blend, which gives you length and volume together with no visible line. Or choose a full human hair wig, which takes you from short hair to long in a single piece.

The difference is how much scalp the base covers. A Light Volume human hair topper suits early thinning, a widening part, greys to cover, or simply wanting subtle added volume. It comes in a 5-6 inch length on a 3 by 3.5 inch base, and a 12-16 inch length on a 3 by 5 inch base. A Full Volume human hair topper suits more noticeable thinning or diffuse hair loss and uses a larger 5 by 6.5 inch base for maximum coverage and density on top, in 5-6 inch and 12-18 inch lengths. A human hair topper is a smaller piece that clips onto the top of your head to add volume and coverage where your own hair is thinning, blending in with the hair you still have. A full human hair wig covers your entire scalp and is the right choice for extensive or total hair loss. If you still have healthy hair around the sides and back, a human hair topper usually looks most natural. A wig is also the simplest way to change length completely, because it takes you from short hair to long in one piece rather than needing a topper and an extension together.

The top of every human hair wig is hand-tied strand by strand with a 4 by 4 inch multidirectional top, so you can part it in any direction just like your own hair. A stretchy band with clasps adjusts it to your exact head size, and two clips on each side near your ears hold it securely. If you have no hair at all, you can wear it with a silicone wig gripper.
