Hair Toppers: Light Volume vs. Full Volume

So you've assessed your hair needs, or maybe even had a free consultation with our experts, and you are wanting to invest in a hair topper. Before you go any further, it is important to understand our hair toppers and the differences between light volume toppers and full volume toppers, so you can make the right decision for your hair.

What Is A Hair Topper?

Hair toppers are one of our most popular products at The Lauren Ashtyn Collection. They are luxury hair pieces created for women who have thinning hair, hair loss, or just want some added volume. It differs from a wig because it doesn't cover your entire head. You just clip it on top of your existing hair and it easily blends into your natural hair while offering full coverage of your crown.

Our hair toppers have many different purposes. We originally designed these pieces for clients experiencing hair loss and/or thinning on their crowns. Although, some women decide to start wearing a topper when they have gray hair coming in and others just want the added volume.

The Differences Between Light And Full

The main difference between the light volume topper and the full volume topper is the size of the piece. The full volume topper has a micro mesh base that measures 5” x 6.5” and a maximum hair length of 18”, while the light volume topper has a base that is 3” x 5” and a maximum length of 16”.

Piece Base size Hair length
Full Volume Topper 5” x 6.5” 12-18” and 5-6”
Light Volume Topper 3” x 5” 12-16”
Light Volume “Mini” 3” x 3.5” 5-6”

Full Volume Topper

Our full volume topper gives maximum volume, length and fullness and is large enough to cover thinning spots on the sides and top of the head, as well as the crown and back. This piece has twice the density of our light volume topper, so it gives you thickness, maximum volume and full coverage.

We offer two lengths in our Full Volume Toppers. For medium to long hair, we have the 12-18” length. For short hair, we have the 5-6” length. Both are built on our 5” x 6.5” micro mesh base, so either length gives you the full coverage you are looking for.

Light Volume Topper

Our light volume topper gives added volume and partial coverage to the crown of your head. It's the perfect piece if you want to cover your grays or give yourself a natural lift. It has less coverage than the full volume topper, so we recommend it for women with minimal hair loss or thinning.

We offer two options in our Light Volume Toppers. For medium to long hair, the 12-16” length has a micro mesh base measuring 3” x 5”. For short hair, our 5-6” length — which we nickname the Mini — has a micro mesh base measuring 3” x 3.5”.
