How do I choose the right colour for my hair topper or wig?
Easier than you might think — and you don’t have to do it alone.
Our Hair Experts offer complimentary virtual colour consultations. Rooted and multi-tonal shades are especially hard to match on your own, so a quick consult takes the guesswork out.
Send a few photos of your hair in natural lighting and we’ll recommend the best colour and piece for you. Text 864-527-2403, email contact@laurenashtyn.com, or WhatsApp 864-590-8924.
You can also browse every shade on our colour swatches page, or watch How to Color Match a Hair Topper to see how we do it in the salon.
What colours are available, and can I see swatches?
We offer 30 shades in our signature colour collection, including rooted and balayage blends. See them all on our colour swatches page.
Want something more personalised? Our salon offers a custom colour service for a $250 customisation fee. Our stylists colour your piece to your desired shade, which typically takes 7 to 30 days.
Because custom-coloured pieces are made specifically for you, they are final sale — not eligible for exchange or refund.
What if the colour is slightly off when my piece arrives?
Because every client’s hair is unique, slight colour variation can occasionally happen.
The good news is that your piece is 100% European human hair, so a trusted stylist can professionally tone or colour it for an even closer match.
We recommend toning or depositing colour only. Bleaching is not recommended — it compromises the integrity of the hair, which cannot regrow.
Unsure before making changes? Ask us first. Our Hair Experts would far rather advise you beforehand than fix a colour afterwards.
Can I colour, cut or heat style my hair piece?
Yes to all three — it is 100% European Remy human hair, so it behaves like your own.
- Have it professionally cut to add bangs, layers or face-framing pieces.
- Tone or colour it for an even closer match to your natural hair.
- Curl, straighten or blow dry it with heat tools.
Always apply a heat protectant first and use the lowest effective temperature.
Colouring and toning are safe in professional hands, but we do not recommend bleaching, as it compromises the integrity and longevity of the hair.
Should I take my piece to a stylist before wearing it?
We highly recommend it. Your piece arrives beautifully prepared by our team, but professional customisation is what creates the most natural, seamless look.
One important tip: go to a stylist who is confident and experienced with toppers and wigs specifically. These pieces are not cut the same way as natural hair, and a stylist unfamiliar with them can accidentally ruin a piece. An experienced hand makes all the difference.
The best option is to have your piece customised by one of our own stylists at an in-person appointment — our wig specialists work with these pieces every day.
Because every client’s hair is unique, a proper topper or wig haircut is what makes a piece look and feel like it is truly your own.
